Ben Tizzard, born on August 28th, 1994, in Kingston, Ontario, is a Calgary-based musician who has dedicated his life to the love of music. His musical journey began at the age of 13 when he discovered his father's acoustic guitar and joined a guitar jam club in junior high. Since then, Ben has never looked back and has been devoted to studying and performing the guitar.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Guitar from Ambrose University, and has had the privilege of studying with renowned Calgary musicians such as Ralf Bushmeyer, Neil McVey, Aaron Young, and Aaron Shorr. With over 15 years of experience playing the guitar, Ben has honed his skills and developed a unique musical style that incorporates a plethora of musical genres.

Throughout his career, Ben has achieved notable accomplishments, including being a 2014 finalist in the Stampede Talent Show, performing in Stage West Musical Productions of Footloose, Legends of the 80’s, and Sister Act, as well as in the 42nd Street Production Musical "New York New York.” Providing improvised accompaniment for a live script reading of HUSK at the Calgary Film Fest, and performing at the 2023 YYC Music Awards. He has also worked as a jazz guitar clinician at the Vic Lewis 2022 Festival and has performed at various Calgary venues such as the Ironwood Stage and Grill, The King Eddy, The Grey Eagle Casino, The Telus Convention Centre, SAIT Jubilee Auditorium, Mount Royal University, University of Calgary, Alvin's Jazz Club, Hyatt Hotel, Arts Commons, and many more!

In addition to his performances, Ben fills his time professionally by teaching privately and at local studios such as Cornerstone Café, and Chinook School of Music. He also engages in select clinics to share his knowledge and passion for music. With his dedication, talent, and passion for music, Ben Tizzard is carving a promising career in the music industry, captivating audiences with his genre bending guitar playing and heartfelt compositions.

His musical journey continues with the release of his 3rd project titled "What Christmas Was," a genre bending- nostalgic trip to the holiday past. This 5 track EP showcases his talent and creativity, and he is thrilled to share his work with the world. It has received great feedback having charted in the Top 10 for 2 weeks in December 2025 with CJSW Folk/Roots/Blues Calgary.
